Foreseeson acquired a NXR-1510 X-ray Testing machine to provide X-ray Testing services to EMS customers. At the Design stage or Manufacturing stage, should there be a product failure, a visual insection may identify some of those failures, but BGA and uBGA failures might not be so readily identifiable. Normally EMS customers try changing the BGA or uBGA first to fix the defects, but they can never be sure of the real problems.

Before replacing the BGA or uBGA, a quick check of the BGA or uBGA would save time and cost.

NXR-1510 is an extended high resolution, high power four-axis system designed to inspect large PCBs with lots of components.

The NXR-1510 offers continuously variable magnification between 1x and 800 x. It has an X-ray source of 90 kV, adequate to penetrate difficult materials. It has a focal spot size of five microns to ensure accuracy in die attach, bond wires and BGA solder joints. Nicolet integrated an image intensifier with dual visual fields of 2" and 4" for improved function parameters including contrast ratio, resolving power and dynamic range. The intensifier eliminates picture blurring during inspection.

Foreseeson will prepare a JPEG file of the BGA or uBGA picture, and email it to the EMS customer.
